Voices Against Violence

About Us

We envision a culture in which we are all safe, empowered and free from violence. We are a society in desperate need of healing. Only by working together to create a culture of respect can we find peace and strength. Voices Against Violence was birthed to empower individuals who are victims of domestic abuse.

Mission Statement

The Mission of Voices Against Violence, is to lead, mobilize and raise our voices to support efforts that demand a change of conditions that lead to domestic violence such as patriarchy, privilege, racism, sexism, and classism. Also, directly interact with all aspects of the community in an endeavor to enhance the quality of life by addressing the issues surrounding Domestic Family/Intimate Partner Violence (DF/IPV). Through education, intervention, empowerment and prevention, we can teach and apply a healthy, positive life-changing approach in helping break the cycle of violence in our homes and our communities. We are dedicated to supporting survivors and holding offenders accountable and supporting advocates.

Get Help

Domestic violence isn’t a private matter. Thinking of it that way keeps it hidden and allows it to continue. It is all of our business. And it is preventable. While domestic violence can and does happen in every community, we know that prevention efforts are most effective when they understand that domestic violence is both a cause and a result of systemic issues like poverty, racial and gender inequity, and homelessness. This means solutions must include sectors not always associated with domestic violence — like banking, social welfare, and housing. Fortunately, that is starting to happen. We see solutions emerging across our nation — solutions that embrace prevention of domestic violence, by addressing its root causes and through healing so we stop it from occurring and reoccurring.
